When renting a gun at a gun range is possible to share the gun?

Asked by Fluffedit (20points) July 11th, 2013

I’m planning on going to a gun-range with some friends and I’m wondering if its okay for all 3 of us to use the same gun, just taking turns? Saving the expense of renting 3 guns. Or is there a rule for that?

why not? Unless there is such a disparity in sizes or strength that not everyone would be suited to the same gun. Do they provide ammo as well? If so, gun usage is probably measured by ammo used and time rented.

You can do that at the Smith and Wesson range in Springfield MA. They will even provide the hearing and eye protection (free) and ammo at a reasonable cost. Everyone needs proper ID and must understand correct device operation. Note: When you go in there you will have more cameras on you than Kate Middleton walking naked into a WalMart.

Other places might not like people walking or trading ‘items’ around the separation walls. Ask first.

Some places might not think 3 people crammed into one bay is a good idea. I can see the possible screw ups right now.

I think that if you want to blow things up or shoot things you should have your own weapon. The idea of three people squeezed into a shooting booth seems like a recipe for disaster.

I’ve been to a few ranges and typically 2 or 3 people share one booth/lane and use the same gun(s).

Only one person is in the booth. The others stand back out of the way.

Anyway, each range has its own rules.

I would call them and tell them you are new to the sport and ask them “I want to shoot with two friends, what do we need to know?”.
