What is happening to my body? (nsfw)

Asked by nailpolishfanatic (6637points) July 19th, 2013

One day in the last week I happened to forget to take my pill so the next day I just took the one from Tuesday on Wednesday and I’ve continued doing that since then, but two days after the day that I forgot to take the pill I noticed some spotting on my panties. It’s dark brown goeey sometimes thick looking-like discharge/blood coming out of my vagina. I’m not quite sure what is happening with me. The spotting has been going on for a little over a week now.

Oh and just now I read my manual script of how to take the pill and what to do if one day is missed. It says that the day I realise that I’ve missed one day I should take two at the same time and obviously I didn’t do that. So I’m wondering if I should maybe do that tomorrow and maybe this is the cause of the spotting.

I’m very confused as to whether I’m maybe pregnant or not (which doesn’t make much sense though considering that I’m experiencing spotting) and also my breast have grown like a lot in this past week. I’ve been on the pill since the beginning of the year and I’ve never ever missed a day.

Please help me in this crisis that I am. I’m left stressing on and on about it and don’t know what to do. My mind tells me I might be pregnant but thinking of it, it doesn’t make sense and I’m left confused.

Thank you in advance.

In the latest move of Flutherizing, I would say no one here knows for sure. Best course, consult you OB GYN because no one here can tell you anything, if they say they can, it is most likely dubious at best.

Call your doctor and describe the spotting (and clotting) symptoms. Take a home pregnancy test. Long distance advice from non-docs won’t help much.

Normally there is no spotting during the first few weeks of a normal pregnancy.

Like everyone has commented no one here really knows. However, the pill regulates your menstrual cycle if you miss a pill it makes sense to deduce that the cycle is out of sync. Which can cause spotting and sore breasts. I would do a test though if you have been sexually active.

You’re most likely just break through spotting because you let the hormone get too low by skipping a day. Your uterine lining builds up with the hormones, so when they fall off you shed/bleed just like when you stop taking them at the end of the month. Take two and then continue on as usual. You should assume you are not protected this month for pregnancy and use a backup method.

Next time you miss a pill take it as soon as you remember, and take the next pill as scheduled. If that means two at once the next morning then that is what is recommended.

Anyway, nothing to panic about. When you start up next month after your full period you will be all straightened out.

The likelihood you are pregnant is extremely low. Extremely. If you would want to keep the fetus if you were, you can stop taking your birth control for now, because it can prevent implantation or bring on miscarriage, but if you would be fine if it doesn’t implant or you miscarry then just continue on taking your pills this month. If you are totally freaked out you can do a pregnancy test in a week.

What pill did you miss? Are you on day 3, 12,18, which day of the month?

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor.

To clarify, if you miss a pill in the morning and remember in the evening, take it right away. If you don’t notice u til the next morning when you see your pill pack, then take two at once.

If I were you I would just take a pill right away to catch up and take another in the morning and then you are back on schedule.

Everyone is different. There is no right way or wrong way of being pregnant. My mom had a cycle every month for the first 5 months when she was pregnant with my sister. She didn’t even realize she was pregnant.

The day I got pregnant with my son, I just knew. My husband was away and we thought we were safe from me getting knocked up because my cycle was every 28 days. So he came home 10 days before the end of my cycle and it wasn’t even a week before I had all the signs of being pregnant. My cycle never showed. I had my blood drawn upon missing my cycle one day. The doc said it was too soon but he did it anyway.

Also had a friend with an IUD in her and it stayed in all 9 months of her pregnancy. The doctors told her at the time that she could not be pregnant. They didn’t believe her till she went in for a physical exam a few months in.

For my daughter I got pregnant the day after my cycle ended. Again. Ovulation is not suppose to happen the first few days. In two weeks, I had all the signs of pregnancy again.
My point is if you suspect you should go and do a pregnancy test
