How likely is it that Greenland in the future will be a nation of prosperity?

Asked by _Whitetigress (4378points) July 31st, 2013

I’m referring to the fact that currently it is a land full of sheets of ice and snow, if global warming continued, would there be an abundance of newly found resources, in which the country could prosper from? Or has it been thoroughly researched already? As the earth warms, it is likely that rain forests could grow with the ice melted away thus making it another South America type of land? (It’s already even got the shape of South America!)

Anyways, I didn’t study geology and don’t know much about the environment or how the ocean would be affected etc so some solid info would be nice.

I suppose it depends on how much of the land is under water.

Tourism can eventually be a great source of income.
