What kind of toothbrush do you use?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46806points) August 9th, 2013

I have always used a “hard” tooth brush. My dentists always recommend a “soft” brush as, he says, a hard brush can damage the enamel. However, my teeth just don’t feel nearly as clean when I use a soft brush. I can still feel icky on them.

Which brush do you use?

I use a soft.

I have never heard a concern for the enamel, I thought the concern was for the gums.

Philips Sonicare. Electric toothbrushes are the way to go.

Electric – Oral-B. medium bristles.

I’ve alternated for years between a soft-bristled brush and an electric.

I used to like hard bristles but I can’t get them around here; so I go medium.

I use an Arm & Hammer electric toothbrush. It has induction charging. I find it sad that the electronic device with the most advanced charging method in my apartment is a cheap electric toothbrush.

I use a medium toothbrush. Soft doesn’t work for me and hard is too abrasive on my gums.

I’m the same as @Pachyderm_In_The_Room – I use a soft bristle “flossing style” toothbrush alternating with an oral B electric.

What’s up with the electric toothbrush? What’s so special about it?

I like a hard one. I feel like I have brushed my teeth if it is hard. If it’s soft, I tend to brush harder and then my gums bleed.

@elbanditoroso We’re using the same toothbrush.

@sunny, next time rinse it out…

Extra soft, my gums have suffered from being type A and using a hard brush for years. I mix a little baking soda in with my toothpaste and it helps a lot.

Oral B rotation-oscillation type (as research has shown this type of electric tooth brush is the only one that is more effective than manual cleaning) – medium bristles.

Soft, and if and when I decide to do myself in I shall make a toothbrush from a nice, fat, Oleander twig. I will roast my hot doggie on it first, then have a final brushy.
I want to die with a bright smile, but of course! lol

I use an Oral-B electric with medium bristles and on the gentlest rotation setting. However, I cannot necessarily attest for how effective this is at keeping the enamel of my teeth healthy because I have not been to a dentist in years. Sucks being poor~

How come toothbrushes always look like a hybrid of a race car and a space ship? How come they always have flashy colors and stripes and state of the art gripping? I mean, seriously.

How come @Coloma brought up penises in this thread?

So they can sell a nickle product for $3 or $4 @Symbeline.

@Dutchess_III When you go for a cleaning do they have to scrape off a lot?

Dutchess_III's avatar

I just started using a soft brush after my last visit. I think I’m going to at least go with a medium though, from here on out.

A Darth Maul. It’s double headed with soft bristles on one end and hard bristles on the other.

Seriously?

augustlan's avatar

Soft bristles, compact head.

gailcalled's avatar

Electric-Oral B-medium bristles. The dentist suggests not bearing down with it but using a delicate touch.

Head…oral…you guys are pervs. :p
