HDMI/Component > SCART?

Asked by danclements (82points) June 20th, 2008

I purchased and AppleTV in the states and recently moved to Ireland where the TV thats currently in our apartment only has SCART inputs. Does anyone know of a converter that I can use to get audio and video from component outputs to SCART input?

I expect that @sndfreQ will have the definitive answer. But I believe your real problem isn’t the cables, but conversion from NTSC to PAL format. It requires work, not just cables.

Good luck!

I know that the AppleTV is capable of PAL, its listed on the specs sheet on Apple’s website

Ahhh… indeed. And as near as I can tell, that’s the only mention of PAL they make in the official docs.

Anyways, here’s what you want. $US129.

Might be more cost effective for you to consider a new TV.

[Update]: You might be able to knock this out for free with a hack.

I’ll sit back and let the real pros weigh in. HTH.

Crud… here’s the real link for that hack: http://www.appletvhacks.net/?p=125
