Do you have a personal opinion about eye drops that change eye color?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) September 2nd, 2013

Are they unsafe, a load of hype or a wonder invention. Have you or yours ever used them successfully?

I think it’s a bad idea, if you want to change your eye color use printed contacts.

I have never heard of them before, but the idea of putting a chemical onto my eyeball sounds dangerous and not at all wise. What’s wrong with the eyes you were born with?

I’ve let my body go to seed sometime in high school when it was clear that a majority of women would not swoon over me for my body. I find it hard to understand the motivations of people who preen themselves to perfection, but it is a behavior found in many animals, so we shouldn’t dismiss it off hand. There is clearly a deep desire to let outward appearance be a symbol for something, be it desirability of DNA or superiority or whatever.
I hope the proper safety studies have been carried out.

Sounds like a horrible idea. If anything goes wrong you could be the first statistic. (FDA approved stuff is often found to be harmful later.) Is the possibility of losing your eyesight that unimportant to you?

They sound reeeeeeally sketchy.

No way, I wouldn’t do it to myself, I am just curious to know!

Do they exist? How can you keep drops from covering the entire eyeball, giving new meaning to the term “green-eyed monster”?

Yeah. Ew.
