Do you suffer from Triskaidekaphobia?

Asked by Pachy (18610points) September 13th, 2013

Friday the 13th. To me, it’s just another day/date, but I know there are many who dread and fear it, and I’m not mocking them. Still, I wonder if Triskaidekaphobians make themselves more vulnerable to “bad” luck by focusing too much on its possibility. If you don’t suffer from Gelotophobia (fear of ridicule), will you please share your thoughts?

I’ve suffered from it 13 times in my life, but now I am over it.

I don’t. I use this date as an excuse to watch scary movies.

I am not superstitious…however…I was JUST sitting out by my garden having coffee under a giant Ponderosa pine when something large, came crashing down through the tree. I thought it was a pine cone from the squirrels but it was a giant BONE of some kind. Missed my head by about one foot.
Cannibal squirrels in the trees!

Maybe it’s an omen. lol

It is not unusual in our household to hear “Oh No! Friday the 13th came on a Thursday this month!” So, no we do not take it too seriously.

I try to convince myself that it is my lucky day. I don’t believe it is bad luck. It is just another day on the calendar.

BOO!!

Friday the 13! I always used it as an excuse to take a day off work. And we’d skip birthdays if they fell on that day. Sorry @ucme. If a 13th person came to a dinner party for 12, we’d send him home. If the baker gave me a baker’s dozen, which is 13, I’d give the extra donut back. If a stop light was 13 seconds long, I’d go before the 13th second. I’ve been to 12 psychiatrists to get over this phobia, but none of them helped me. I’ll start on social workers next. Something has to get me over this. It’s really getting in my way!

I’ve watched Friday the 13th IV-VII while I’ve been deep cleaning my bedroom this afternoon. I haven’t watched those movies for a long time. It’s been fun.

I did bump and gash my shin a bunch of times when I was moving furniture. Bad luck? ;)
