Do you participate for a cause in your local community?

Asked by Sunny2 (18842points) October 11th, 2013

I think it’s important to help make ones community a better place. Do you participate? Belong to a civic group? Raise money for a local cause?

Yes I do, I frequently help out with the Park a Pensioner programme.
That’s where myself, together with other like minded citizens, seek out elderly individuals who wander aimlessly around town. They’re escorted to a safe location & “parked” where families/carers can collect them. Has to be somewhere familiar to them such as a library or bingo hall, it’s the human touch that draws me in.

Yes, several. Twice a month I sell tickets at the box office for our indie film club, I always work at the polls for the Democrats on election day and I help out in various ways at our local historical society. My community is so small that every little bit helps to make it a more wonderful place in which to live.

Yes. Hubs did meal delivery to seniors, we help where & when we can. We go to many fundraisers, too.

I’ve volunteered for gay pride a couple of times. Does that count?

Not where I live now, but in previous cities I have. Eventually I will do something here also I am sure.

I am intricately active in the local theatre organizations. I attend, promote, act, serve on the board of directors of one group, and as of this writing, I am directing. I am also the de facto web master for one theatre group.

^^ ‘Get involved with costume and set design and lighting, and you needn’t even bother with the board. I love your versatility.
