If Swiper stopped swiping, would he still be Swiper?

Asked by fluthernutter (6328points) November 7th, 2013 from iPhone

Who is Swiper?
What makes him Swiper?
If he’s not Swiper, who is he?

Did his mother name him Swiper? Or is it just his nickname? I’m guessing it’s just a nickname that he earned. I mean, who names their kid Swiper? (Plus all the other non-object characters have regular names.)

Isn’t addressing him by a name that implicitly accepts his behavior while repeatedly asking him to stop said behavior sending mixed messages?

And they tell him “Swiper, no swiping!” three times every time. You’d think he’d get the message.

I’m thinking maybe “swiper” is his species, and that all swipers are, well, swipers?

I thought Swiper was a fox?
Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!

Hmmm…but if it is his species, I think that’s even more messed up of Dora to keep pressuring him.

Well, crap. It’s been years since I had to watch Dora and damned if he isn’t a fox. Blows my theory out of the water!

His name is actually S. Wiper – Sebastian Wiper III to be precise. He has a brother “Windshield” and a sister “Ass”.

I agree, it’s probably a nickname… maybe they don’t know his real name?
my oldest grandson used to always stick the word ‘for’ in there- he’d say “For no Swiper, for no swiping!” We couldn’t figure out why he was doing that, and whenever we’d try to explain to him what he was saying, he’d just look confused, and still say it that way!
