George Zimmerman Arrested ASSOCIATED PRESS November 18, 2013 2:24 PM ET. Anybody know why? This time?

Asked by MadMadMax (3397points) November 18th, 2013

“Zimmerman will be transported and booked into jail, a Seminole County Sheriff’s Office statement said. Authorities provided few other details, and it was not immediately known what charges he faced. Messages for comment left by The Associated Press with the sheriff’s office were not immediately returned.” NYT

Anybody know anything else?

He just can’t stay out of jail, can he?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

“WESH-TV reported that Zimmerman was accused of domestic violence by a girlfriend in the unincorporated area of Apopka. The station said sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call, and that several sheriff’s office vehicles were at the home.”
Formal charges have not completed by the arresting officers

MadMadMax's avatar

He’s usually just let go.

He’s rather popular with the police and never even gets a ticket for being stopped for multiple traffic violations – I imagine he’s asked for his autograph, they chat it up and off he goes. You know that any one of us would have gotten a ticket, especially for the speeding violation.

Maybe he has a sticker on the back window of his car supporting a Sheriff’s Assn or having purchased tickets to the Policeman’s Ball.

@MadMadMax I think it’s more likely that they view him as a ridiculous nuisance.

flutherother's avatar

He’s more than a ridiculous nuisance. The guy is dangerous.

MadMadMax's avatar

@flutherother “He’s more than a ridiculous nuisance. The guy is dangerous.”

I was going to say that myself but I waited to see how other’s reacted. That was kind of an understatement to say the least.

Why would any woman want to date this guy? And she’s pregnant. Didn’t take her long to call 911. She’s almost as crazy as he is.

glacial's avatar

@flutherother & @MadMadMax I didn’t say that’s what he is, I said that’s probably how the police view him (as opposed to a celebrity whose autograph they want). I don’t think the police consider him a danger to themselves. :P

tom_g's avatar

@glacial, official Zimmerman fan!~

glacial's avatar

@tom_g lol, I’ve been outed!

MadMadMax's avatar

I ‘think” perhaps police may be sympathetic.

MadMadMax's avatar

He will be transported and booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.

chyna's avatar

Egads, some people are just hard up for a date.

Jonesn4burgers's avatar

Where’s a mall shooter when you need one?

laurenkem's avatar

Apparently he’s been accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend(?) And it’s considered “aggravated assault” because of her pregnancy.

When the hell did he get a girlfriend, let alone impregnate her???

Pachy's avatar

I saw this earlier and just shook my head. Like we didn’t already know this guy is a ticking time bomb.

MadMadMax's avatar

There are tons of women who write to violent criminals in prison and “fall in love” with them.

Some marry them – bad mojo.

Basically I kinds thinks chics like this are sandwich short a picnic. And now we’e going to have a Zimmerman Jr.

Do you guys have any idea how many kids simply named after outlaws and criminals go bad?

Check out how many kids named Jessie James think they have to live up to his image. One would imagine the parents are nuts.

laurenkem's avatar

Okay, here’s the update from the local news: Neighbors had no clue he was in the neighborhood, either visiting or staying there and, even though they saw him, never recognized him. He’s being held without bond and his first appearance is tomorrow at 1:30.

Press conference to start in a minute…

Dutchess_III's avatar

He’s a hothead. That’s what got him in to trouble in the first place.

ucme's avatar

Of the cardiac variety…no?

laurenkem's avatar

Quick correction on my part: they’re now saying that the girlfriend is not, in fact, pregnant. However, he allegedly broke a table and pointed a gun at her, at which point she grabbed her cell phone and called for help. They are stating that he then allegedly kicked her out the front door of the house and barricaded it with furniture until the police arrived and burst in.

This thread made me think of this monologue

gondwanalon's avatar

He’s a fool with a popgun.

MadMadMax's avatar

@gondwanalon Popguns have a string attached to the “bullet” – they don’t kill people. He’s a murder waiting to happen.

gondwanalon's avatar

@MadMadMax Of course his popgun is real put just a fun toy in his eyes.

laurenkem's avatar

What is it with these guys (like George and O.J.) that get away with MURDER and it’s still not enough for them? If I got away with murder, I think I would be living a super squeaky clean life, forever grateful and wanting to fade into obscurity for all time. Instead, these two bozos seem to almost flaunt themselves at the authorities, as if to say “Ha, can’t catch me!”

Do they assume because they got away with murder that they’re now untouchable for any other crimes they care to commit? Anybody care to speculate?

talljasperman's avatar

Everyone can start buying ice tea and skittles for a while until he gets out of jail.

MadMadMax's avatar

I wonder how many people will start sending him money for his defense this time.

MadMadMax's avatar

@laurenkem I bet they start feeling invincible – it’s kind of a signal that they were guilty of the murder in the first place. Now they’ve gotten away with it, they can’t stop.

chyna's avatar

@laurenkem Do they assume because they got away with murder that they’re now untouchable for any other crimes they care to commit? Anybody care to speculate?
It seems he keeps getting away with different things, traffic stops, alleged abuse of his wife and her father and pulling a gun on them and of course murder. Yeah, he would think he is invincible.

ETpro's avatar

Oh my. One more human train wreck to watch. Like watching Mayor Rob Ford of Toronto, it would be tempting to laugh if it were not another human tragedy unfolding. We’ve seen enough of these like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, or any of the other celebrity train-wrecks that ended so tragically.

MadMadMax's avatar

But Zimmerman was always a nobody.

Local knowledge:

Florida law is confused. If you pull a gun on someone in Florida, the only way to avoid a sentence if convicted is to kill them.

They have that “stand your ground” thing, which means if you shoot someone and kill them, and claim self-defense, no problem, go on home.

They also have a 10/20/life law, which means there’s a minimum sentence if he’s found guilty of use of a firearm while committing a felony. Now, while the 10 year minimum wouldn’t apply in this case, the 10/20/LIFE statute also says that pulling a gun during an aggravated assault carries a three-year minimum sentence if convicted.

That’s why he’s being held without bond.

MadMadMax's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr Thank you for that information.

If he is convicted, he would likely end up in a real prison. Maybe he won’t stand a chance inside.

Just being hopeful. Something has to give so that no more innocents die.

Of course he could join the White Supremacists on the inside and with his history, he’d be protected.

talljasperman's avatar

@MadMadMax I thought white Supremacists didn’t like Mexicans or latinos?

MadMadMax's avatar

@talljasperman He’s white and will get brownie points. Maybe not Neo-Nazi’s but he has notches on his gun and that may make him special.

I don’t know. I saw OZ and now I think I know everything about the inside. LOL

Seek's avatar

Most of the skinheads are further South. He’ll be in central Florida prison, with the meth-heads. And they already have him in a private cell – special protection because of his “high-profile” nature.

dougiedawg's avatar

I was a little disappointed when he got his gun back after the jury found him not guilty. The guy’s not real stable.

MadMadMax's avatar

What an understatement Dougie.

KNOWITALL's avatar

He’s escalating rapidly. I guess psyco for real. He won’t do well in jail though too soft.

stanleybmanly's avatar

The real tragedy of Zimmerman is that he is a genuine and obvious Freudian delight, roaming the streets from incident to tragic incident without even a random chance that the state of Florida might in the series of unending arrests subject him to psychological evaluation and possible therapy. What a country!

Coloma's avatar

Well fuck, he ruined my daughters birthday. lol

Coloma's avatar

Oh jeez, look at the attention he’s getting. Just gas the moron and be done with it. He is not fit to be called part of the human race. Pfft!

Seek's avatar

@stanleybmanly This is Florida. We don’t treat people with mental illnesses here. We wait for their family members to report them, then put them in a psychiatric hold for 24 hours, then kick them out on the street with a paper printout of private psychiatrists they can’t afford.

What do you think we are, Sweden?

stanleybmanly's avatar

@Seek Kolinahr Touche’. Let’s hear it for the “sunshine state”

MadMadMax's avatar

If Zimmerman had lived in Sweden Trayvon’s name would have been Sa’id – and he probably would not be totally dead.

MadMadMax's avatar

@stanleybmanly If you want sunshine, I’d suggest southern California.

Jonesn4burgers's avatar

The Zimmer is a hothead, can’t control his outbursts, but the only ones he attacks are women and teens. Sure there was dad in law that once, but he’s old, and really it was about his woman. So, with this mixture,if he got sent to prison, he’d be dead very soon, because he’d start stuff, and keep starting stuff, and he’s too much of a puss to back it up. I hope somebody marries him first, with a name like, Bruno, or “Truck”.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Would he only be partially dead @MadMadMax?

Yeah. I don’t get how it makes a man feel macho when he attacks women and children, either verbally or physically. Don’t understand it.

jca's avatar

What I find baffling is why someone would be in a romantic relationship with a nut case like that.

jca's avatar

He probably told her “that’s not really me.” LOL

Dutchess_III's avatar

Maybe pulled a gun on her. Said he wanted her and was standing his ground until she agreed to date him.

SecondHandStoke's avatar

The State of Florida can’t get it right every time.

Seek's avatar

@SecondHandStoke I think you spelled “any” wrong.

SecondHandStoke's avatar

No.

Florida’s first judgment was sound.

It’s not Zimmerman’s fault if the race of the individual he shot was going to cause a PR mess, a media feeding frenzy and an opportunity for individuals to express indignation to serve their own smug sense of righteous self identity.

tom_g's avatar

^ Right, because being opposed to someone killing a kid and completely getting away with it is simply an “opportunity for individuals to express indignation to serve their own smug sense of righteous self identity.”

KNOWITALL's avatar

@tom_g I’m with you on this one. This guy’s a freak show and how many people have to get hurt before someone gets him into counseling or something.

Not only Treyvon, but the car accident he supposedly helped (which he didn’t), and the ex-wife in court, and now the pregnant girlfriend saying he’s waving a gun and stuff and he lied to the cops about it. He can’t get along with anyone, fruitloop.

SecondHandStoke's avatar

^^

No smugness here as an entity greater than me and all others as individuals made the determination.

The rule of law.

MadMadMax's avatar

Bad laws can be changed.

flutherother's avatar

I don’t wonder about Zimmerman, I know he is nuts, but I wonder about that jury.

Seek's avatar

That’s just the thing, @flutherother

Our justice system hangs on the whim of a group of people who weren’t smart enough to get out of jury duty, who pay absolutely no attention to the world around them.

1TubeGuru's avatar

Zimmerman is a coward and a punk. what kind of man points a shotgun at their girlfriend? I hope that he Court in Florida makes a example of him.no wonder his wife decided to leave him.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@1TubeGuru Pregnant girlfriend at that! Freakshow

MadMadMax's avatar

But its all hearsay.

Again no witnesses just like the last time. And he says the girlfriend went nuts, broke the furniture and only saw his gun while he was packing to leave. Then she ran outside called 911 and it’s his story against hers.

He’ll be let go. He said she said law.

SecondHandStoke's avatar

^And that’s admissible in this court of public opinion.

MadMadMax's avatar

@SecondHandStoke Court of international public opinion.

NanoNano's avatar

He seems to have a mindset of confrontation that won’t go away, and you have to wonder if that’s a byproduct of his killing someone and getting away with it, or just another symptom…

GoldieAV16's avatar

He’s The Sociopath Next Door

Not “just misunderstood.”
