Who builds cages for zoos?

Asked by Yvening_Star (148points) November 22nd, 2013

I am trying to raise funds to build two cages for capuchin monkeys in another country and would like to see how much this type of cage cost. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Deluxe Primate Cage cost around $599.99. Cages for capuchin monkeys can be made with items purchased from any hardware stores. Ready made Iron cages may be expensive. You can contact your local zoo to get more details.

“They’re not cages; they’re enclosures!
(Scarlett Johansen’s character’s line to Matt Damon’s character in We Bought a Zoo.)

You need to be more specific, also:
In terms of size: just how many capuchin monkeys will you be enclosing?
In terms of manufacture: do you need a portable enclosure, or will it be built on site? Does the completed assembly need to be transported over roads?
In terms of design: is this “just an enclosure?” or will you also have water and sanitary plumbing, concrete or other monolithic flooring, etc?
In terms of sourcing and materials: do you want / expect an assembly fabricated out of iron bars and rods, or could you make do with one made of wood, bamboo or other locally available materials in the country where you plan to use it?
