Shall we say a fond "Farewell" to the end of an era with the passing of "The Honeymooners" Trixie?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) November 29th, 2013

Jane Kean, who played Trixie on ‘The Honeymooners’ has died at the age of 90.

We never missed the show when I was a kid, and Trixie was a favorite.

Jane Kean played Trixie in the “revival” Honeymooners. The REAL Trixie was Joyce Randolph, who I think is still with us.

So let’s wish Ms. Kean a fond farewell, although she may just be in “revival” heaven….

R.I.P to the wonderful lady who made the World laugh a lot more than it would have.

@OneBadApple Yes, Miss Randolph is 89-years-old and still very much with us.

Both Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph were beautiful women, and they had to downplay their looks for Alice and Trixie. They both frumped-up in dowdy, hausfrau dresses and hairstyles, so that they’d look less glamorous and more blue-collar.

I have the 39-episode Honeymooners DVD collection. I think I’ll go watch it right now. I love the one where Alice leaves to live with her mother because Ralph got mad and threw the mother out, then makes a recording to try to get Alice back….

“Hello, Bunny ?.......This is Ollll’ Buttercup…..”

“You were LISTENIN’, Norton…!!!”

For me growing up in the ‘50s, Ms. Randolph was Ed Norton’s pretty, good-natured wife. But even she wasn’t the original Trixi. That honor goes to Elaine Stritch.

Right you are, @Pachyderm_In_The_Room!

” She was the first and original Trixie Norton in the pilot for Honeymooners sketch with Jackie Gleason, Art Carney and Pert Kelton. The character was originally a burlesque dancer, but the role was rewritten and recast with Joyce Randolph playing the character as an ordinary housewife.” from Wiki.

I only know the original series. And I just totally love it. I know Joyce Randolph as Trixie as well. Anyone who was part of The Honeymooners empire at all is good with me though.
Safe paths Jane.
