Any experience with adding a hitch to a car?

We are moving 200 miles away. Renting a moving truck seems like a lot, when you consider multiple trips. I am thinking about adding a hitch to my Saturn Vue, and just renting a trailer, which would save about $400 each trip, though it would take more trips.
I would love any input anyone has. Only nice people please.
