Lot’s of them. Movie acting comes to mind. Rock musician too. Plenty of others. But I understand your point.

Motivation trumps intelligence pretty much everywhere outside academia.

What @funkdaddy said – and sometimes even in academia.

It’s rarely what you know but who you know. I have known a lot of people in management positions who make you scratch your head.

Dumb people are the norm in most professions. The exceptions where intelligent people are likely to be selected and then successful, outside of academia, tend to be highly scientific and/or quantitative.

And Christie probably isn’t dumb. He’s blustery, obnoxious, cruel, authoritarian, narcissistic – but probably fairly cunning.

police. military. any sort of menial labour. religious leader. conservative think tank.

@funkdaddy That is true. Also reminds me of the old saying, “there is an I.Q., and then there is an “I can!” The “I Can” people do just as well and maybe better than those with a high I.Q. but no motivation.

Dummies aren’t distracted. They don’t have doubts. They don’t fritter away time considering alternative actions. They just charge ahead.

Duck Dynasty. And their followers.

@Dutchess_III Dude, you just had to add their followers. That is a very broad comment that I’ll disagree with completely.

Dutchess_III's avatar

That’s Miss Dudett to you, man. @KNOWITALL I added them because the ones I saw on fb who were crying about his “freedom of speech being taken away” and saying it was proof of the government trying to deny us our God-given, Constitutional rights, struck me as seriously dumb people.

Lots of repair jobs. Are there any TV repair people anymore? I think they are designed to not be reparable so you will just have to buy a new one. Our society has become quite disposable.

@Judi
There is this VCR Repair Shop in Milwaukee.

Judi's avatar

I answered that on the wrong question. I thought I was answering the jobs that are becoming obsolete question. Lol.

Tv and electronics repair is making a small comeback but it’s not for dummies.
