How do you like your coffee? And how much?

Asked by livelaughlove21 (15724points) January 14th, 2014

For coffee drinkers – how do you like your coffee? Strong? Weak? Black? Cream and sugar? How much? Any favorite flavors?

Also, how much coffee do you typically drink per day?

-

My Answer: I only drink coffee at work, so I fill up my tall coffee mug, put enough sugar-free vanilla creamer (powder) for it to look this color and 8–9 Splenda packets. My mom, who drinks hers with plain creamer and one teaspoon of sugar, calls this “disgusting,” but it’s the only way I can drink the stuff and actually enjoy it. I drink two of these per day.

I like my coffee to be a dark roast (Sumatra), pretty strong (use a lot of beans per cup water), and I consume it with cream or whole milk. Absolutely no sugar or flavored coffee. I have some in the morning (2.5 “cups” on coffee maker), and usually the same in the afternoon.

I used to have a hookup at a local roaster for years. I’d get freshly-roasted beans and would grind them right before brewing. Now I just get Peet’s or Starbucks from the market. It’s stale, but I’ll drink it.

4 cups of fresh ground from beans, in the cup. No sugar or cream

Black, half a cup.

Vente Pike Place at Starbuck’s. Every morning, seven days a week between 0630 and 0700. With a touch of sweetner, and little bit of skim milk.

I love coffee!

I’m not sure but whatever coffee it is I prefer it black.

Cream and sugar? How much? Any favorite flavors?
Maybe a tiny bit of cream occasionally. No flavors or sugar.

I haven’t drinked drunk drunken dranken drank? coffee in about four or five years. I used to love it, but stopped drinking it because:
(A) It made me hyper.
(B) It would keep me up at night.
(C) It gave me Olympian runs.
(D) I was scared it was going to turn my teeth yellow.

Dark roast – I like a sumatra or a Guatamalan huixoc.

A little weaker than usual. Most say to use a tablespoon of grounds per cup. I usually do a little more than half that.

I like it blaaaaaaaaaack, if it’s Good Coffee. If it’s not Good Coffee, but decent coffee, just a touch of sugar. If it’s crap, Splenda, because I’m not wasting calories on shitty coffee.

If I do have a Huixoc, for example, it is whole bean, stored in a dark, airtight container, then ground fresh on a burr mill grinder, and brewed for four minutes in a French Press with filtered water heated to 172 degrees Fahrenheit.

If it’s just average coffee, like Eight O’Clock, it’s still ground fresh, but I’ll make it in the Keurig with my EkoBrew filter.

If it’s crap, I’m not at my house drinking it, and have no control over how it’s made. ^_^

At least one cup of decent coffee per day. Not necessarily always in the morning. I’ve been French pressing decent coffee for the last few weeks.

I drink one cup of instant coffee with a little bit of milk in it, first thing in the morning. I love the smell of coffee, but I really don’t like any of the real coffee drinks like they have at Starbucks or other fancy places. It tastes burned and bitter to me.

The best coffee I’ve ever had is at the lunch counter at Ikea. It’s very mild and smooth.

MMmmm, I love my coffee a LOT. My preference is expensive dark roast.
Usually I make one go cup in the am and drink work coffee for my next go-cup, then I’m done.I put in a spoon of sugar and a splash of milk for my first, then top off with black for the second.
On weekends I may drink a whole pot with hubs though. Starbucks lattes are good, too, but I’m too cheap to go there much.

I drink Folger’s French Roast with a scant teaspoon of sugar and a splash of Carnation Italian Sweet Cream creamer. I drink a cup every morning, sometimes two.

I really love tea. I like all kinds of black and green tea, English and Oriental, but not so much herbal tea. I like it strong and with cream and sugar. Sometimes I like it with lemon and honey instead. I always have a cup mid-morning, and sometimes mid-afternoon, too.

Black
About 4 cups a day.

@Kardamom I agree, Starbuck’s burns their coffee.

I wish my favourite coffee shop was still open. Best lattes ever. Le sigh.

I drink espresso with milk. One large cup in the morning, and I’m done. Drip coffee always leaves me feeling edgy and a little ill, without providing much of a boost, so I avoid it like the plague.

I take my coffee with 5 splenda packets, no cream or milk. I use sugar too, on occasion. I used to always add milk or light cream but the last few years I’ve preferred it without.

I usually drink 2 to 3, 16 ounce cups a day. I’ll even drink it at night if I get a craving.

Black 2–4 cups daily

Brewing up a pot now. It’s Eight o’Clock Coffee, Hazelnut. I’m French pressing it, It’s a pretty big French press (thanks, @gailcalled)! so I’ll probably get 2½ – 3 mugs out of it. Making it half-strength, as usual.

Today: total 3½ mugs of coffee.

Crisp. I like my Coffee Crisp. I had to say it.

Must have 4 extra large mugs of half caff with cream and a little sugar/honey between 6:30–7 a.m. and about 9 a.m.
My mug is huge, I love it!
I am a coffee addict one of many treasures of being a hedonist.

If it’s good just KILL me with it!
Death by coffee and fudge. lol

I drink about 24–30 fluid ounces of coffee a day. It is very light (unsweetened fat-free ‘half & half) and sweet (organic turbinado sugar – I find the darker sugars give a nice flavor and I use less. Our coffee maker is on a timer and it burr grinds the beans then brews it. We buy dark roast, espresso beans and use them for our everyday brew.

I’m not much of a coffee drinker, preferring tea. I probably drink one or two decafs a day at most. On occasion I’ll put a marshmallow in or some whipped cream, two sugars. Never sweeteners, they turn my stomach.

Berserker's avatar

Nice and strong, with a bit of milk in it. Not sugar.

trailsillustrated's avatar

Used to be high quality beans and a really good expresso maker, with low fat milk, frothed. Sometimes I’d drink so many I’d feel sick. But now that it doesn’t work in australia its just instant with one sugar and milk. Really cheap brand. I’m so over it.

OpryLeigh's avatar

I very rarely drink it (I didn’t touch the stuff for years but will very occasionally have one now) but when I do it must be milky and very sweet or have some alcohol (Baileys or Whiskey).

cookieman's avatar

I like my coffee like I like my women – light and sweet.

One cup a day iced (in the morning) – orally.

How can anyone drink more than one cup of coffee without feeling like you’re going to jump out of your skin and feel dizzy and trippy? My husband must drink a pot. I don’t know how he can stand it.

tom_g's avatar

^ It’s easy to develop a tolerance. I will occasionally stop coffee for a couple of months. When I start drinking coffee again, I feel amazing. I am so focused and have a ton of energy. When you drink a ton of coffee and become addicted to it, much of the positive effects are diminished, and sometimes the second cup is simply to avoid the caffeine withdrawal symptoms (headache).

livelaughlove21's avatar

@Dutchess_III Coffee and energy drinks like Red Bull don’t have much of an effect on my energy level. It’s free at the office, smells good, and warms me up – those are the only reasons I drink it at all. I used to drink a large can of sugar free Red Bull every morning while doing my internship and, if I ever forgot it at home, I didn’t notice any difference in how awake, alert, or energetic I was.

I like the warmth too. I especially like mornings like this morning….It was chilly, probably 20 degrees, so I put on my fluffy slippers and my big duvet-coat and sat outside on the deck in the chilly morning air, with warm cup of coffee in my hands, listening to the birds and thinking that life is good.
Until the phone rings and life really starts. Sigh. Good bye coffee. Good bye fluffy slippers. Good bye duvet-coat. Get your ass dressed and get to it! Gotta get twins to the ER! Gotta get a package mailed! Gotta get to the Dollar General for laundry soap!
