Who knows the book or the movie "The boy in the striped pyjamas"?

Would you recommend it to read or watch in class? Why/ why not?

It wasn’t very realistic—book or movie. The whole premise of the book is that this kid doesn’t know he’s witnessing a concentration camp. I think he’d figure out it was a really awful place really quickly. There are MUCH better books. I can name a bunch for you if you like.

You didn’t mention what grade you were thinking of showing it to.

I haven’t seen the movie.

I liked the book, and I didn’t think it was unrealistic. Horribly sad ending, though. I think it might be too much for children under fifteen/sixteen because, above all, it’s an intense book. I agree with @keobooks; there are a lot of better choices on the topic of WWII.

There was another question a couple of years ago about this book, and the movie that was based on it – see here.
