IPhone 4s won't play music from the default music app or any app or sounds from the internet but still plays ring tones?

Asked by pleiades (6617points) February 19th, 2014

Not too sure how to fix this. My ringtones still work so I know it’s not physical damage (or is it?)

Any advice?

I’m guessing you did already reboot your phone right?

My power off/on button doesn’t work should I just drain it and start it up from there?

You can’t hold it down and then slide the off bar on the menu? Yeah, otherwise let it drain to oblivion then power it back up.

Here is what works.

Voice Memo
Ringtones
Siri (I can’t even tell siri to restart) I’ll go on youtube and drain it I’ll be back

The ringtone/alert volume is separate from music/sound effects volume. If you’re using iOS 7, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center and use the volume slider there to see if it changes – also make sure the phone isn’t using airplay to send the sounds to some other accessory wirelessly.

@hearkat Aw thanks! I’ll never know if that works but now I know of that function! I ended up letting the power die to restart and it worked
