Shall we mourn the passing of Maria Franziska von Trapp, last remaining member of the family that inspired the musical, "The Sound of Music"?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) February 23rd, 2014

Maria Franziska von Trapp, last of The Sound of Music siblings, dies.

She is represented by Louisa, played by Heather Menzies-Urich, in the iconic 1965 movie “A Sound of Music”, now having brought pleasure to generations.

I don’t understand why no one mentions Maria (Julie Andrew’s character) had three children of her own. I had the pleasure of meeting one, Rosemary, at the Von Trapp lodge. As far as I know she is still alive. Maybe her full siblings still are also? They weren’t depicted in the movie, but I know to me she is a Von Trapp. She was born in Austria and made the trip as a little girl with the rest of the family out of Austria.

Age 99? I’d remember her with 99 Luftballoons

Certainly. I love that movie and have visited the Von Trapp lodge in Vermont.

@JLeslie: You bring up a good point about Maria’s children.

How do you solve a problem like Maria? RIP

I don’t routinely mourn public figure’s passings.
