My rank at my university is 2/20 percentile from the top in a class of 23,780. What does this mean?

My rank at my university is 2/20 percentile from the top in a class of 23,780.

My assumption is that 2 / 20 stands for 10%, so that would mean you are in the top 10% of your class. Likewise, 1 / 20 would mean the top 5%. Since the class size is 23780, then your class rank would be between 2378 and 1189.

That’s the same as calling it the top quintile. That’s a mighty big class for such a ranking and implies an undergrad student body of almost 100,000 students.

What’s the uni?

If you count every student in every school in every branch and every on-line and adult-ed program, some of the state unis would qualify. Largest universities in the world
