I think you just have to get off Fluther for a while and start doing whatever it is you are postponing. There’s no magic bullet, sorry.

And instead of worrying about a great future, concentrate on having a productive and contented day today. Do one thing that pleases you, other than hanging around here.

Try Cast Away for learning something about coping skills under less-than-favorable circumstances.

127 Hours You think you’ve got problems?

Definitely you have to watch Rocky (the first one).

Other ones that come to mind:

- The Incredible Journey (the one made in 1965 or so) – it’s about animals, but it tells a good story.

- Armageddon – presented with a problem, they address it and overcome it.

@janbb I don’t know. Sometimes fluther is nicer than the real world. Sometimes.

@Adirondackwannabe yes, but the OP keeps posting questions about motivation….

I agree with @janbb. You just have to jump into the water and start swimming. Once you’re in the water, you’ll probably discover that it wasn’t so cold after all. As I said in one of my earlier replies to your posts, “Indecision is the thief of opportunity”.

Ecclesiastes 11:4 says,
“Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” (NIV)

“He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.” (King James Bible)

Which I will paraphrase as,
“If you keep waiting for the perfect moment, you’ll never get anything done.”

Someone much smarter than I (Napoleon Hill) said something like, (I’m paraphrasing because I don’t recall the exact quote),
“There’s never the perfect time to do something.” Or,
“The perfect time never comes.”

“Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves.” – Dale Carnegie

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you’re right.” —Henry Ford

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” —Walt Disney

And a final quote (I don’t know the author),
“If you have tried to do something and failed, you are vastly better off than if you had tried to do nothing and succeeded.”

So what are you waiting for? Jump in and start pursuing your dreams!
