Can a person with a stoma go swimming?

Yes you can go swimming. No the water won’t get in for the same reason the faeces doesn’t come out (assuming you’ve placed the stoma bag well – there is a bit of knack to that). You would normally use a special stoma bag that is designed for swimming but you can get away with a standard one. You can also get special swimwear with a higher waist band to hide the stoma.
