What would it take for me to buy a Nissan Altima?

Asked by Eggie (5921points) April 7th, 2014

I am trying to set up a goal for myself to one day be able to own and drive a Nissan Altima in New York. Can you help me make up a realistic goal to follow?

This is a convoluted question. Do you mean you are looking to emigrate to the USA, live in New York (City?) and then buy an Altima?

Yea, but can we pretend I already live there?

Sure – then you would need about $25,000 I suspect.

Buy it cheaper in Canada and then drive across the border!

So, I should like have a job that pays…......? Qualifications that include…..............? I should be living in Canada?

First, you need a valid driver’s license and proof of a current auto-insurance policy.

If you have cash, you do not need to prove that you’re employed, but if you plan to get a lease or a loan, you would need to have a job and good credit so the banks will not consider you too high a risk. The higher your down-payment, the easier it is to get a loan.

Are we talking NYC or Buffalo? If you want to drive in NYC the cost of your car will be the least of your worries. My friend lives there and she pays more for a parking spot than I pay for rent.
