What song is in your head today? #4?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) April 23rd, 2014

I ask because John Fogerty’s Centerfield just randomly popped into my head. Weeks or months since I heard it. It’s now enjoying a little ‘airplay’ between my ears.

Links are welcome, not required.

Have fun! It’s a Kentucky Jelly kind of question.
In a SFW kinda way.

Give a shout out (Share Question) to jellies you think would have great answers. We need to network within the system more, IMO.

If you answer because the question was shared, remark it, if you please. If finding new jellies is difficult, maybe we can get the present members to participate more, better?

Can you go wrong with Springsteen? @Adirondackwannabe.

McCartney was past my time, by about 65 seconds @hearkat, but I did like Ebony and Ivory a lot. I fell into the Boomer slot of ‘I’ll scream if I hear another Beatles song’ and Wings. I’d had all the repetition of the Beatles I could take by the time Sir John started his solo career.

Someone on here mentioned Peaches Geldof and I couldn’t get this out of my head……

Because of my job, it’s “have you seen the lonesome loser beaten by the queen of hearts everytime’ the little river band. This is not the kind of music I listen to or like but I tend to get songs in my head I almost think it’s pathological.

Not so much a song, but a theme tune, watched the film last night…

http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=19McuaPKjI8. I don’t know why but everytime the sun comes out and I am enveloped in it its irrespressible I am quite certain I don’t actually like the song but the what I attach to it…Then slipping in my quiet retrospective moments http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=JRWox-i6aAk actually I had to watch the video twice its quite erotic. But as to the song well Lana del Rey is dark that’s what originally drew me to her. But she has a beautiful voice but its more then that. I guess I don’t really want to admit to this song feeling personal to me again… But here I am… And ok its a thing a bump in the road that gets easier to cross everytime it happens. But I still indulge in the drama, the wonder, and the grief if only for a little while. Late at night when no one is present.

Just give the name and someone will link, @Coloma.

I’ve not thought of Gordan in months, @Dan_Lyons. Thanks!

Never heard it before, @SQUEEKY2. I have pity for you now. :)

I enjoyed the clip, @zenvelo. In my day it was just a cheesy car commercial. Nice to see the passionate origins.

Wild mood swings, @johnpowell?

ibstubro's avatar

Sweet, @Adagio, and new to me.

Blast from the past, @Haleth. And very catchy.

Canned music at work @trailsillustrated? Last I was in the bank they were playing Johnny Cash and June Carter and I asked what station they had on, and they said ‘none’, and I thought ‘That’s gotta bite!’

@ucme WTF? When was that released?

I’m not sure your links worked, @Unbroken? Both headlined Marilyn Monroe by Pharrell Williams?

Dance, @Harold. Nice in the mix!

ucme's avatar

@ibstubro Early seventies, the beach in the final scene is just a couple of miles from where I live.

ibstubro's avatar

Is the violence gratuitous, @ucme, or in context within the movie? The trailer looked extremely violent.

ucme's avatar

@ibstubro Absolutely in context, Caine’s brother was murdered by gangland rivals after he found they were exploiting his daughter in pornographic home movies.
He wreaks bloody revenge, but the violence is pretty mild when you consider films like Goodfellas.
One of my fave brit gangster films Get Carter, arguably Caine’s finest hour.

This was my song last night, the youtube links came up unavailable.
I love this song, used to play it on my drums all the time and sing it to my goose Marwyn, it was “our” song.
You’re my darlin’ Marwyyyn, closer than my peeps you are to me baaaybay… lol
Yeah. I’m eccentric…but good times…good times…a little wine, a little Shaggy and Bob Marley on my drums, Marwyn hangin’ out in the house, a music fest for two. :-)

ibstubro's avatar

I’m not a big Caine fan, @ucme, but if I have the opportunity, I would watch that movie, now.

“Party when you’re still young, who’s gonna have your back when it’s all done?” I actually love that song, @Coloma. Thanks. Morning made.

Peaches and Jeans, @Unbroken. Both very cool, both new to me. At a time in my life I would now be searching for the peaches CD instead of typing this reply. :)

Being introduced to Torn to Pieces is why I keep asking this question, @Winter_Pariah. New to me and fantastic.

King of the road was such a cool song, as was Roger’s other favorite, Dang Me

And innocent grey is quite lovely.

But how about Celluloid Heroes by the Kinks?

ibstubro's avatar

Never. Never. Never Mention Johnny Cash to me in jest, @Coloma. Fantastic. Made my night!
Retro hit that’s never far from my conscious.
You’re killing me with Roger. Crap. I’m going to go over my internet usage playing tunes!

@ibstubro I love that June Carter and Johnny Cash song and I’m a hiphop person.

Unbroken's avatar

Hah @Coloma I don’t know maybe its the references, but I kinda get a kick out of it. It’s kinda the campy badness that makes it delightful like army of darkness or serenity… But then again maybe not.

It is an awesome typewriter @Dan_Lyons

OMG, @Coloma! That might be the first time I ever liked the guy! Whole new light.

Coloma's avatar

@Leanne1986 Awesome song….thanks, this will be the tune branded in my brain this morning.
@ibstubro The first time I saw that video I was on vacation at the beach with my daughter, I laughed so hard I wet the bed in my hotel room. lol
I love him standing on the motorcycle with his arms out…OMG…is right!

While I enjoy The Tennessee Waltz, I refuse to let into my head today.

Thank you, thank you, @Coloma! I love Rocky Horror so much! Oh, to be young, dumb and full of cum again!

Coloma's avatar

@ibstubro LOL…I was addicted to that soundtrack in about 1980, played it night and day.
Once had a wild pool party with all of us doing the Time Warp high on Peyote and leaping into the swimming pool. Oh, the good old days. haha

The rest of the video was pretty good too. Psy is alright!

ibstubro's avatar

This song is before my time. Meaning that a totally awesome incredibly outstanding song was not driven into the ground while I was living. The local radio station played it last week, and it made my day! What a hipster!

Hard to listen to it without winking at least once.

Coloma's avatar

@ibstubro Great old tune!

ibstubro's avatar

I LOVE IT! @Coloma There’s another, similar, song that I can’t remember.
You made me play Mack again, in the background, as we – I – type?

ibstubro's avatar

That Titanic toon is fairly seriously messed up, @Dan_Lyons. Never heard it before. Like Tull a lost, though.

Not a huge violin fan here, @Coloma.

No, I think I’ll let you keep that particular song, @zenvelo, but thanks for answering!

I’ve never heard that one before, @Symbeline

Midnight Oil was very cool, @Coloma. My favorite Green Day is Time of Your Life. Makes my hair stand.

Coloma's avatar

@ibstubro What about Ukelele?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_PLWqnfFgU

Maybe a new cult classic for the young’uns here. lol

Dan_Lyons's avatar

Speaking of Lost Tull

The first part, “Wond’ring Aloud” is from aqualung, of course, but the second part, “Wond’ring Again” is from, well, maybe you know. I sure don’t.

“Wond’ring Again” starts at 2:50.

Unbroken's avatar

Huh @Symbeline that was a surprise. I was expecting amon amarath or bathory or some sort of viking death metal…you knocked my socks off

Berserker's avatar

My first answer was Gloryhammer. :D

But yeah, Joan Baez is awesome.

Unbroken's avatar

Wow I actually liked that! I sometimes listen to amon amarath and I sorta get pumped but I hate not knowing the words. It’s like the whole time I’m distracted thinking I’m sure the lyrics to Norse mythology songs are great if only I could understand… So thanks for sharing!

My Sunday song Chocolate Jesus: http://youtu.be/lAIqk5KUBRQ

ibstubro's avatar

I refused to open it, @Coloma. I saw the title, and you’re not putting that in my head today!

Nice, @Dan_Lyons. No, I don’t know.

I didn’t listen to all of it, @Symbeline, but I did see the attraction.

Hoot out of Waits, @Unbroken. Reminded me of Leon Redbone.

Coloma's avatar

@ibstubro Spoilsport! ;-)

ibstubro's avatar

I’m smarter than the average snare, @Coloma.

ibstubro's avatar

You didn’t even rate a slot, @Coloma

Mimishu1995's avatar

What’s song in my head today?

Of course, this mysterious song!

Oh lovely song! Who are you? Please tell me! Do you know how much I love you and how much I want to get close to you? But why are you evading me? All I want is your name so that we can be together, forever! What’s so wrong with that? Is that so hard?

rojo's avatar

But, in the process of looking it up, I found This and chased it away.

dxs's avatar

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh Jackie Blue!

Coloma's avatar

@dxs Aaaaagh…thanks dude, thanks a bunch, now this will be in my head all day. Up yours!

ibstubro's avatar

This played on the radio last week, and it keeps popping in my head. I didn’t even know it was Nat until I youtubed it.
