Is anyone else disappointed with the new X Men movie?

Asked by filmfann (52219points) May 24th, 2014

I think Days of the Future Past was the weakest of the series, and that includes Origins/Wolverine.
Am I alone here?
What are it’s failings?
How could it have been improved?
What glaring holes are now in the series?
Spoilers may be ahead!

Interesting you say that. I haven’t seen it yet but I’ve heard nothing but good things. It’s also the highest rated X-Men movie on rotten tomatoes

They’re all crap

@ucme Word.
I don’t understand how otherwise intelligent people get into X-men. And I have been reading comic books and watching superhero-type movies since the 60s.

Disappointed here. Wish there were more X-men fighting in the future. Not a comic reader so maybe they followed the comics but Hollywood is used to “overblowing” things up and this was one of those instances they should have.

The time travel trope is tired. So tired. The critics are praising how the writing was done. Not lousy at all yet….tired.

Did the cast ask too much money-? Vfx is expensive and the finale fight totally sucked. As a movie that was suppose to be entertaining, the focus on drama, the conflict between mutants and humans just got in the way of good action. All that action was benign.

Having said all that, glad there could be another movie based on the positive reviews. The sales would decide that eventually.

SPOILER ALERT

At the end of the last Wolverine movie, Logan had his Adamantium claws cut off, but they are back. Were they rewelded on?

At the end of the last Wolverine movie, we see Logan going through the airport security section, and he meets up with Magneto and Professor X, who need him to stop something that threatens all mutants. This seems to be the whole “Days of the Future Past” scenerio, but it is very, very different from the new X Men movie set up.

Professor X’s return is never really explained.

Some of the characters seem to have developed new skills, like Ellen Page’s Kitty Pride, who can now send messages to people in the past.
