What are the specific ingredients needed for each color of glow stick?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) June 20th, 2014

Something I have wanted to do for a long time is order some of the ingredients needed for glow sticks, however I am having trouble narrowing them down for colors, mainly red, green, and blue.

I figure one of the two chemicals is used throughout all of the glow sticks regardless of color and then the one contained in the glass vial (or vice verca) is what give it the correct color and glow. I would like to find out what these are.

Here are some sources I’ve found:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glow_stick#Fluorophores_used

http://www.jugglingwithatwist.com/Glowstick_Ingrediants.html (Hopefully they’re more careful with their information than they are with their spelling)
