Any good music suggestions?

Asked by dina_didi (1276points) June 23rd, 2014

I want to create a playlist for this summer to chill while listening to it and I would like some new or older songs as long as they are worth listening to. What is your personal favourite that takes the stress away from you?

I listen to different stuff depending on my mood. Right now it’s the fray, how to save a life. That’s pretty nice. Then maybe Snow Patrol, Fallen Empires, or Springsteen Tunnel of Love. I also have lots of Hinder, Shinedown, or AC/DC if I get a little more rougher.
Edit: And welcome to fluther. You liven up the place nicely.

The girl from Impanema is one of my favorite chill songs. It’s a smooth jazz classic that just says ‘aah’.

“Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison always puts me in an up mood.

Anything by the Excrementory Grindfuckers

@majorrich Yeah, Astrud Gilberto, mmmmmm. To chill? Anything by Diana Krall. Van Morrison’s Tupelo Honey and Moondance LPs/CDs for lite chill. Anything by Andre Segovia for deep chill. I find Rebecca Del Rio’s voice sultry, dolce como de molaza, and extremely soothing.

GQ. Welcome to Fluther.

What kind of songs would you like to hear? Upbeat? Cheerful? What do you like?

“Older songs”? Can you handle jazz?

@Adirondackwannabe I also listen to different kind of music depending on my mood! It helps a lot so that I don’t get bored of music and discover new artists! The Fray and Snow patrol are great bands! @Espiritus_Corvus and @Adironwannabe thank you for welcoming me to fluther! It is really nice to feel welcome! @majorrich the girl from Ipanema is one of my favourite songs! Really nice choice! @Mimishu1995 I usually listen to swing, jazz, reggae, electronic and chill music but I do not have any problem listening to other kinds of music as long as they are good and match my current mood.

@Mimishu1995 all the songs are great but Nature Boy is a very touching song! I loved listening to it! Very good choice!

For some great funky rock and roll, get The Very Best of War. It’s great music that is mostly upbeat and will get you moving.

For me, summer music is music that will get you dancing outside on a nice day.

@zenvelo Here’s one for you then!

And Otis Redding’s Sitting on the Dock of the Bay is one of the ultimate chill-out songs.

Wild Child by Iggy Pop. Although, Joan Jett does a more energetic version

All Along the Watchtower – Jimi Hendrix

Child in Time – Deep Purple

Those two songs are almost always playing in the back of my brain.

April Showers – ProleteR

King Louis – Electric Swing Orchestra

Keep my head high – Echo Movement

Stutter – EMEFE

Far Away – Jose Gonzalez

Sympathy for the Devil – Freedom Dub

Stay Human Michael Franti

For the rest of these, I couldn’t decide on a specific song as these albums are all really chill from start to finish.
