Where does the saying, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" come from?

Is it from a famous story (like in the bible) or by a famous philosopher, or does it have a great story behind it? I’m doing research for an article I’m writing and need to know the answer to this ASAP. Thanks for any help in advance… it would be greatly appreciated!
