Did I hyperextend my elbow?

Asked by Erica111 (10points) June 29th, 2014 from iPhone

Hi.
Today I believe I hyperextended my arm or elbow. The only thing I remember doing it reaching in the back seat of my dads car. My arm hurts just from move ing a little bit. And I’ve been holding it as still as I can when I walk, but just from takeing a step…the pain is terrible. The farthest I can extend my arm out at this moment is like an acute angle. I’m 15 I do not have a car and I tryed to explain this to my parents but the don’t care. The Pain is bad it’s self. Should I call the hospital and explain that my parents will not bring me in? My parents have the time…
Thank You

The hospital isn’t the right place to call.
R.I.C.E. is an acronym for injuries. It stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Maybe give that a try for a few days before making any phone calls.

It is very possibly to hyper-extend your arm in the way you described. The RICE recommendation that @GloPro mentioned is a good place to start. Are you still having pain today? What about difficulty with movement? If you are still having pain, try talking to your parents again. If they won’t take you to your doctor, you could try calling your doctor’s office yourself and ask them what they think and would like you to do. I hope you feel better soon.
