What is the nicest birthday wish you have ever heard?

Asked by dina_didi (1276points) July 3rd, 2014

I want to wish happy birthday to a friend of mine on facebook but not the usual “Happy birthday” or “I wish your dreams come true”. Do you have something good in mind?

On my 60th birthday, my brother gave me a card on which he wrote, “Here’s to another 60”. :-)

You’ll never be as young again as you are today, so enjoy every minute of it.

“Your birthday celebrates the best present in my life!”

Do people even recognize what they say when saying “Happy Birthday”? I’d assume it’s something along the lines of “I hope you have a good day!”, so why not say that instead? It’s honest and straightforward.
@Pachy That’s the exact reason I hate my birthday and being reminded of it and would in no ways want to be reminded that I’ll never be younger again.

@dxs this is exactly the reason I don’t want to send a plain “Happy Birthday”. Wishes lose their meaning when they are said again and again. It is sad but true. I want to show people I love that my wishes mean something.

@dina_didi I said it was that you hope, not you wish. So you don’t hope that that person had a good day? Then, instead, say “Hope you get shat on by a bird today!”
What exactly are you trying to convey by saying something to this person? Are you really making a “wish” that his/her day goes well? Are you thinking about him/her and hoping their day is going well?

If you want it to be special, get personal. Tell this person what they mean to you.

My daughter recently wrote on a birthday card that she was happy to be my daughter.

@gailcalled it would be hard to beat that sentiment, what more could a mother wish for.

@gailcalled that was so sweet! Your daughter seems to adore you! What more could a mother ask for her birthday!
