Who has been to Berlin, and what do you recommend seeing or doing?

My partner and I are considering going to Berlin, Germany, on our next trip. If you have ever been there, what do you recommend as not-to-miss adventures, be it a sight or restaurant or place to stay? Is there anything within a day trip that is not to miss?
