Can I film something in Sephora without paying them?

Asked by fuglyduckling (412points) August 1st, 2014

Or just from the outside can I film a friend (actor) in it and then put it in my short film?

Why not just call and ask? Get permission first to cover your own butt.

Regardless of whether they want to charge you or not you’re going to have to have permission from management to film in there.

Unless you go all guerrilla-style, you’ll have to obtain permission for in-store shooting. If you’re outside the store, on a sidewalk, you should be fine.

I am wondering, if you are on the sidewalk but aiming your camera into the store, if they might call the cops on you.

Even if you buy the item and make the film at home, you’re still using the image of their product. So technically they could come back at you if the film is released publicly, for copyright infringement. Not super likely but not impossible.

The only way to find out for sure is to call them and ask.
