Argh! Why has my iPhone stopped ringing?

Asked by syz (35938points) August 1st, 2014

It doesn’t ring, it just goes straight to voice-mail. I’ve checked my settings, I’ve checked my ringtone, I’ve checked my volume, and I’ve updated my software. Argh!!

Did you check your “Do not disturb” setting?
Or, is it in Airplane Mode?

Do you have an Apple store near you? They should be able to help.

Mine did that and I went to the AT&T store. There is a little button on the side that slides front to back that I didn’t even know was there that turns my phone off. I felt silly.

Brilliant!! It was in Do Not Disturb mode (even thought I have literally never touched that setting)!

Now I wonder how the hell it got in that mode. I always just flick the ringer off toggle on the side if I’m in a meeting or a movie.

Try rebooting before anything else.

@syz: I use the Control Center frequently and sometimes tap something unintentionally, so accidental activation of ‘Do Not Disturb’ was my first thought. I don’t use Bluetooth devices, but sometimes will notice that I’ve accidentally enabled it through there.

I Lurve ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode and use it frequently – such as when I’m at work, or go to a movie or Dr’s office – plus I have it set to automatically be on from 10:00pm – 7:00 am so only my VIP’s calls come through.
