What are your thoughts on the creation of iPhone apps?

Time duration, hours put in, creativity, graphics, etc…

And how hard would it be for any joe shmoe to create an app?

I have made a few that are fairly simple. But the learning curve is really steep. It would be really hard to make one without prior knowledge of programming.

If you are good at writing apps for OS X the transition is trivial.
