How enthusiastic can the American people be about a possible Jeb Bush/Hillary Clinton presidential contest, Post-Obama ?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) October 27th, 2014

Is it too late for America to nominate a fresh face for President?

Should we disqualify offspring for a generation?

I’d love to see the current American political situation from 100 year perspective.

Hands tossed in the air, expletives…followed by whatever, indifference I can’t help but think there will be some kind of plot twist this time. America is not really buying this election charade/drama anymore.

Jeb Bush? What are they doing starting a royal family?

Ugh, not I.

That’s funny because I recently got back in touch with my old room mate from university of Illinois, where we did boatloads of drugs and were strippers. She posts a lot of Glenn beck stuff and a thing about Hillary Clinton not knowing how economics work because she thinks “government creates jobs”. Then she told me they pay cash for dr. visits and her church group would take care of anything major. I told her I am very glad to have free healthcare here, and she replied, ” I will pay. I don’t want some government worker for a dr.’. I asked, are you a libertarian? She said, I am a conservative Christian”. Totally confused about what that has to do with government, but it was an interesting convo.

Well, at least Jeb is better than the other Bush men that have been our President. I wouldn’t be devastated like I was when the two others came to power. When George Bush II was re-elected I was in a depression for days. I just could not believe it. I would be thrilled to be able to vote for Hillary, so if she runs that would be great.

However, I don’t like the dynasty of power that is happening in the US. It’s strange and interesting how even in a democracy that can happen.

@trailsillustrated That conversation is amazing.

I remember my friends and I joking about these presidential dynasties back when Hilary Clinton was competing for the candidacy of the Democrat party.

After rereading The Fall and Decline of the Roman Empire, and a few discussions with my brother (who believes democracy is severely flawed), I really can’t say I’m surprised that there are political dynasties at all and I suppose it makes sense that eventually down the line there would spring up some sort of dynastical lineage in the executive branch.

It’s never too late for hope. (And why did you put this in friggin general. I had other thoughts)

Jeb Bush vetoed a bill for strict enforcement of Slower Traffic Keep Right in Florida.

He will NEVER get my vote.

Who is their right freaking mind would vote for Jeb Bush??

flutherother's avatar

Can the two of them not have an affair and run off together.

But we don’t have related predecessors to judge her competence by.

I’m not very enthusiastic at all if we are starting this discussion two years before the election.

It does serve to illustrate just how much we, as a people, have bought in to the media driven money machine that the election has become.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

@Dutchess_III Can we judge a person’s competence by their predecessors? Both Jeb and Hillary have political experience. Both have family members I did not vote for and would not vote for. Does that make them less competent somehow? I don’t like or trust either of them. Honestly, I’ll vote third party or not at all if those are my choices.

ibstubro's avatar

For 3rd party choice I’m giving you Rand Paul, @ARE_you_kidding_me. Enjoy.

Hey @Dutchess_III

Tell us why you say that.

Stupidity can be inherited and taught, as Bush taught us.

SecondHandStoke's avatar

^ Inherited…

So Bush senior has an unusually low I.Q. as well?

Why aren’t the mentally disabled of the world celebrating that one of their own could make it to an office as lofty as Director of Central Intelligence?

Now I’m really confused.

I think my question whether @SecondHandStoke is serious about the slower traffic to the right should not be modded, because I really didn’t know if he was serious, and his comment stayed up. The rest of the discussion related to that law I don’t care about.

trailsillustrated's avatar

Oh they drive on the right there. Slower traffic right, get it? Right wingers are slow

SecondHandStoke's avatar

“Right Wingers” Slow…

Yes, by very definition, conservatives are going to have a more reserved and cautious approach.

First do no harm. The concept doesn’t just apply to the practice of medicine.
