Are there any promises that you didn't keep that still bug you because you didn't keep it?

When my son was 15 we were playing poker. I kept losing. In the end I owed him 7 banana splits. Took me 10 years, but I finally made good on my debt, one at a time!

However, at one point, 20 years ago, I promised the kids we’d go ice skating in Wichita…..but we never did, and then they closed the rink down. Me not keeping my promises was very rare. In fact I asked my son the other day if I still owed him any banana splits. He said, “No, but we have to go ice skating!”

Also, my son was in Boy Scouts for a couple of years. Every year they had a week-long camp out at a place that is about 30 miles away. It’s kind of off in the boonies.
They have a parent’s day about half way through it. The first year I made it on time, and it was so cool. The boys were taught to wait on us at dinner, and to make sure we were comfortable!
The 2nd year I got lost going out there. I was about an hour and a half late. I missed the dinner. My poor son was wondering an wondering where I was. My heart hurts about that to this day. It feels like a promise that I broke.

My grandpa’s last request was to get rid of all the red lights in Edmonton. I don’t know if he wanted me to shoot out the lights or invent a new system of traffic controls.

Yes. This is not a common occurrence for me, but I don’t wish to go into details on this one.
