Asked by JLeslie (65412points) November 6th, 2014 from iPhone

Can be anything you define as different. Some things that come to mind are:

Wanting to fall asleep with the TV.

Having very different sleep hours.

Not being able to sleep through the night.

Eating before bed.

I just thought of another. I wonder what men think about women taking off their make up and related activities. My husband doesn’t like when I put lotion on my face at night.

Snoring would drive me crazy. I also like to be sparkling clean before bed and prefer my partner be as well. Hey, you never know.

Unattractive? I’m not sure why that would be. At least not any of the ones you listed. I mean snoring and drooling are not attractive activities, but it doesn’t make me find him less attractive in general. And besides, I do it too sometimes. Don’t most of us?

LuckyGuy's avatar

^ Nope! And my bathroom visits smell like roses.

My husband and I don’t snore or drool when we sleep.

I think over time things that annoy us about our partners can make them less attractive to us.

If my husband did snore I would just sleep in another room if it woke me and it wouldn’t affect how I felt about him I don’t think.

Habits and personal care routines don’t bother me in the least.

Only bothers me when she nods off mid hump…hang on a minute!!!

I would think sleep pattern differences that would affect a relationship would be worked out before it gets too far down the road. Yet people’s sleep behavior changes with age: fitfulness, needing to get up to pee, snoring from middle age weight gain.

If the sleep pattern changes enough so that an SO becomes unattractive, the sleep change is merely a symptom of a much more significant problem.

Yes! I was just thinking about this last night. My fiance can fall asleep quickly and easily. For me, it takes time. I don’t just hop into bed and sleep. I have to settle in and calm my mind first. His head hits the pillow and he’s out, and snoring. I have to sleep with ear plugs and even then I get woken up often by the loud snoring. Many times I have to actually go up to bed 30 minutes earlier than him so I have a fighting chance at falling asleep before he comes in and snores.

Doesn’t bother me at all.

No, well, yes but only when she makes me turn the sound down on the TV when she is in the opposite side of the house just shut the goddam door!

unattractive? no. The wife used to love to fall asleep with the tv on. Which reminds me, why did they stop manufacturing televisions with sleep timers? Then one day she declared that she was removing the tv from the bedroom. Fine. The wife needs and gets a solid 8 hours nearly every night. I require less and less sleep as the years go by. So I either come to bed late or get up early. I think we adjust well to one another. We’ve had decades of practice

I submit my wife for sainthood because over the years I’ve become a champion snorer. A sleep study reveals I do not ever stop breathing, I even snore sleeping on my belly. She has even started snoring too! Probably to make me feel better. A couple of times she prevented me from getting back to sleep after my 3am pee.

I usually go to bed before him so I’m asleep by the time he comes to bed. He snores something awful, but I can sleep through it. If I happen to be awake, it becomes painful.

Why would it bug your husband that you put lotion on your face at night @JLeslie?

JLeslie's avatar

@Dutchess_III He is picky about how the lotion smells. He also doesn’t like if my face seems oily in any way. I naturally have extremely dry skin, so I mean oily from products. He doesn’t like to kiss me with lipstick on. He managed when we were dating of course. My mom also is extremely picky about how lipstick tastes and smells. I think I have mentioned before my husband is a lot like my mother. I don’t kiss her, but you know what I mean.

I go to bed with make up on—whatever—lipstick and all. Then I shower it off in the morning. We’re usually having sex or too drunk to care.

JLeslie's avatar

I fall asleep with make up on about half the time. When I was young I did it all the time. That’s the thing, young or in party gear the girl is still looking all made up when she climbs into bed at night.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh, if I fall asleep with make up on, my eyes are totally messed up in the morning.

JLeslie's avatar

I can wake up looking like I just did my make up.

Dutchess_III's avatar

^^^^ I unfriend you!

JLeslie's avatar

If it’s on heavy enough and I was up late, I barely move when I sleep. Hence, looking like I just did my make-up. I’ll never forget a fabulous photo of a friend of mine. Her make-up was gorgeous. I commented on it and she said it was from the night before, she had been at a wedding.

Dutchess_III's avatar

If I fall asleep in my make up I wake up looking like a dead zombie with an eye infection! It is hideous.

zenvelo's avatar

Sleeping in make-up leads to looking like Tammy Faye Bakker.

majorrich's avatar

LOL! She forgets and applies more makeup. Sounds like a bad blonde joke.
