I mean absolutely no offense to anyone when I ask this: are the terrorists winning?

All of this depressing news started to get to me. If bin Laden’s goal was to “destroy America,” then aren’t we kind of fulfilling that goal for him?

1. High gas prices – whatever the cause of it (terrorism? Bush? greedy oil companies?), it is hurting the economy and us.

2. Recession/Depression? – The economy was never as strong as pre-9/11. Yes, there was that bump in the stock market, but look at where it is now: (insert sound of whistle of falling bomb).

3. Breakdown of Americans’ trust of the government – “Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both. ” – Benjamin Franklin. FISA is just the tip of the iceberg…

I hate being pessimistic, but I honestly can’t think of how the U.S. is winning against bin Laden. Troops in Iraq? Pffft….

I hope someone can provide some encouragement. This is all too depressing for me to think about.
