Why are certain truths hard for people to grasp or accept?

Some truths seem impossible for people to accept if not grasp. We will never get US made goods as long as US workers command the paychecks they do, they will never compete with foreign labor. Just as people wanted to escape the Soviet Union for a better life in the West, immigrants will also do the same here in the US; there is no stopping them. There are some women who by contemporary standards know they are sexy and gain excitement knowing they can sexually excite men, and use it to the fullest. We will never have inexpensive health care here as in other nations so long as there are people who want to take the surgeon to the cleaners if he/she was not 100% perfect during the procedure and made a human mistake. Why are those things so hard to accept? People can complain until the cows come home, but some things will never change because too little people will make the effort to change them.
