Shocking stories about people you know/knew?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) December 7th, 2014

I don’t want to steal @LornaLoves thunder, so I’ll try to give my question a little distance.

Our favorite waiter at our favorite Mexican restaurant murdered his ex-girlfriend and her lover. He was perhaps the best waiter I ever knew.

‘The girl next door’ to our business once worked for us, cleaning tables and chairs. Not long after she got out of prison from the ‘cooking meth in a hotel room’ sentence, she helped murder someone.

One of my HS classmates/friends held himself hostage (said he would kill himself) in a house I would later occupy. His father would end up my neighbor when I bought my first house. Sanctimonious wife abuser. Probably kids, too.

This happened to someone I know very well. She was married to a man she had 4 kids with. He ended up cheating on her…with her mother. He also gave her chlamydia, which he contracted from her mother. They divorced and she remarried, having one more child with the new guy. He was abusive to her and her kids. Once he took her legs, pushed them over her head, bounced up and down on her pressing her body weight and his onto her neck. When he stopped, she couldn’t move her body. He took a box of rats (meant for his pet snake) and dumped them on top of her. She laid there for over an hour with rats crawling on her, unable to do anything. He eventually cheated on her, too…with her mother. The mother has been dead for years and everyone in the family except for the woman I’m describing talk about her as if she was the best wife, mother, and grandmother that ever existed even though they all know what she did to her daughter. Bizarre.

My ex boyfriend, cousin was married and had a baby when her husband left her for another cousin. They dated for a while and then that cousin broke it off. He flipped out and showed up at her apartment a few weeks later shooting her to death and shooting her new boyfriend four times, the boyfriend lived.

The shooter was caught, convicted, and jailed here in the US. He was here on a green card I think, so he could have been deported. His wife, the one he had left for the cousin, never had gotten over him and she still visits him in jail. This all happened back in the mid 80’s.

I knew a guy years ago whose super sweet mom was jailed for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from her company. She went to prison for 10 years, the husband waited for her. I knew 2 other women who found out shocking infidelities about their husbands. One found out her husband had slept with her sister a few days before their wedding and another that her husband had been involved in a sex trio for decades with her brother and his wife. Devastating stuff.

@chyna Not permanently. I don’t really understand what happened, I just know that she tried to move and her body refused to cooperate. She eventually was able to get up, though, so I’m not sure why that happened. She started getting severe migraines after that when she never had them before, though, so he must’ve screwed something up.

When I was 14 I had a horse. I’d take my horse to rodeos. I met a 16 year old guy at one of the rodeos. His legal name was Buddy. Buddy Jones. He was homeless, lived in his car. Every so often he’d show up at our house, and Mom would order pizza and he’d sleep on the couch. Then he’d disappear again. He was really, really good looking, but nothing ever developed between us. He always seemed a little aloof, lonely and sad. He never spoke of his family.

A couple of years ago, just for the hell of it, I googled his name. To my shock he was serving life in prison for the murder and beheading of his girlfriend.

Ew. Reading this for the first time: “Sources close to the investigation say police found remains in three different areas in Wichita and Butler County.”

Guy that was on the sim team with me in high school, a year behind me, was arrested for murder while he was hosing the blood from his girlfriend’s body out of the back of his van. He’d stabbed her pretty well.

My late ex-husband’s parents were a very glamorous couple and lived a regular type of life, meaning they were in love had a kid (my ex) and settled into married life, like most people. His mother by all accounts and from the photographs I saw of her was exceptionally beautiful. Sort of like an exotic Elizabeth Taylor. (She was part French, part Mauritian).

Not much happened in those days and the neighborhood they lived in was a bit like mine (Dullsville) so I guess what happened next made it more shocking. The dad become more and more obsessed with the mom and it all ended badly. He murdered her, cut her up and placed her body parts in his car. Which, happened to be a learner driving school vehicle as he was an instructor. He drove around for days, giving lessons whilst deciding what to do with her head.

@LornaLove OMG..haha, nothing to laugh about but the sheer insanity of it all is, well, rather humorous.

I knew a father and son and the son killed his father by hitting him with a hammer. The father seemed to be a quite assertive man. Apparently his son lost it one day. It was a very sad situation.

When I was young there was an older boy whom I considered an idol. He was so clever. He knew everything, at least much more than me. He taught me a lot about life. He even protected me from the bullies. We often hanged out together whenever we had a chance.

Then my family had to move. Several years later I came back to the old town but couldn’t find him. I asked a local and to my astonishment, he had been thrown in jail a long time before for drug trafficking. Everyone in the town hated him, saying he would come to their house to steal or ambush passerby for money. Everyone was glad he went to jail. There was nothing I could say. I wanted to back him up but I had no more evidence than my childhood memories, and I didn’t know anything during the time I left.

Seeing an idol fall is pretty heartbreaking I think.
