What has your experience been with prescription weight loss drugs?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) December 26th, 2014

I don’t mean supplements, herbal stuff and so on. I mean real slimming pills given under the guidance of a doctor.

Um, well, unless you’re planning on using them for life, I don’t see the point. If you don’t change your eating habits, and you quit taking the pills, soon you’re going to be right back where you started.

They’re alright to start the process but unless you change your diet, you’ll gain it all back and more.

I hate that word “diet.” You go on a diet, you go off a diet. You need to change your eating habits FOREVER.

Forget weight-loss shortcuts like pills. The healthiest route to losing pounds is less caloric intake coupled with more exercise. At least, that’s been my experience.

Well, and the best way to less calorie intake is to substitute food. Instead of a hamburger, order a chicken or fish sandwich.

Several friends were taking Metabolife a dozen years ago, and a couple ended up with heart damage from the drugs.
