Why doesn't amazon want this product back?

I bought an $8 flashlight on amazon for christmas but decided to get the recipient a different gift. They are refunding me without me needing to return the item. Why? Is it so cheap as to not be worth it?

Pretty much, it’s a measly $8, how much would shipping be to get it back? Plus you an guarantee it probably cost them $2.
