Shopping for an engagement ring, any suggestions?

Asked by craziprincess (135points) July 12th, 2008

I live in Orange County, CA. Been to a couple of dept. stores, wasn’t too impressed with their selection. Heard that the Jewelry Exchange in Tustin is a zoo. I thought I would see if anyone would recommend a place before I went shopping again. Thanks!

This article recommends Liberty Diamonds, Tiffany & Co. and Ben Bridge in that order.

@craziprincess, would you mind telling me which stores you have been to? I am in the jewelry business and have been for over 15 years and I too live in So Cal. Perhaps, I may be able to help you or even direct you to someone you can trust.

@sccrowell, i’ve been to burlington coat factory and macy’s. going to check out princess bride diamonds tomorrow. a friend of mine got her engagement ring there, she suggested i got there.

have you checked Stuart Moore at fashion island? They’re overpriced but a couple rings looked pretty nice in a magazine article.

Thanks fireant. I just checked them out online, they really do have a nice selection. I don’t think they have any locations in California though. :-( Bummer.
Thank you anyway.

Thanks atharkhan, I looked at Stuart Moore’s website. I might go see what they have in the store. However, the rings I saw online were a little too eccentric for me, I was looking for something simple, classic. So that 50 years from now I’ll still be able to wear it on my frail, age spotted, bony finger. But thanks for the suggestion. I’ll go check out what they have. Haven’t been to Fashion Island in a while.

My dream ring… Princess Cut, white gold.. From Tiffanys. Simple and beautiful!

I’m waiting to see what sccrowell is going to say! :) but good luck crazip.

@CraziPrincess: yeah, Stuart Moore’s website is pretty bad. You might want to check the store instead. Everyone seems like Tiffany’s. I know they are a bit more expensive… but might be worth checking out… it’s not like you’re paying for it right? :-)

@atharkhan. why not. i’ll check out tiffany’s. just to see what they have. i’ll let you know what i think.
