What happens when you click on the RSS icon in whichever site you find it?

Asked by flo (13313points) March 7th, 2015

That is,
1)does it open in a new tab as anything you click on would?
At BBC I used the search engine there (because I don’t see “podcast” or “listen”) to get http://www.bbc.co.uk/search?q=RSS Does clicking on the icon take you to http://www.bbc.com/news/10628494 and then after picking a topic to listen to, what do you get?
Does RSS open in a new tab and do you hear any sound?

You need an RSS reader (either built into the web like www.feedly.com) or you need an RSS Client software (of which there are dozens).

RSS means “real simple syndication” which is a way to ‘subscribe’ to new information from a website while not being in the website.

In short, it’s for current awareness in the future, not really for doing this now.

@elbanditoroso Thank you.
Why does it only open in a new tab when you click “rss.com” (google search result)?

rss.com seems to peddling a feed reader like I made reference to above.

@elbanditoroso I think we’re miscommunicating.
