Converting AVI into a format accepted by iTunes?

Asked by MunnahBee (24points) July 15th, 2008

I recently downloaded a movie that was in AVI format. It won’t load into my iTunes library (I want to put it on my iPhone). Is there any way I can convert it into a format accepted by iTunes?

If you are on a Mac isquint is a simple way to do it.

I don’t know what you would use under Windows or Linux.

I’ve always been a big fan of videora never used the iPhone version, but it works great for iPod and PSP.

or you can use VLC media player. In windows go
file -> wizard -> transcode -> open a stream -> choose all your option (MP4 is ipod format) -> choose a save destination and convert -> its very fast and free!

@joey
You are an absolute star. I’ve been trying for ages to find a quick and easy way to do this without making a balls of the quality.

I’ve just tried it with VLC there and perfect. Fantastic.
