Does anyone want to see what we look like?

Asked by Esedess (3467points) April 23rd, 2015

While a single picture isn’t completely compromising, I’m sure some would rather maintain absolute anonymity. How do you feel? Are you ever curious about the face behind all our diligent words? Would you show yourself if given the opportunity or stick with the avatar and text?

My avatar is what I look like. It is a picture of me.

My avatar is also a picture of me. It’s not my entire face at the moment, but it is sometimes.

Once upon a time, a member set up a Photobucket group for fellow Jellies to post their pics. Here is a link to the last one, albeit dated 2011.

I like to see the photos. It’s another layer of connecting with the regular members. Some are fun, some are artsy, and a few have posted photos of the the people and hobbies that they often mention. It’s about bonding.

Until someone breathes life into the old Photobucket or creates a new one, I’ll take a leaf out of @josie‘s and @DrasticDreamer‘s book and use a photo of me as an avatar.

@Pied_Pfeffer Did you change it just now? You guys are making me think about it; I just might follow suit! Although, I do like my avatar picture.

<——This is my face ~

Just kidding. I have a set of strict rules for behaving on the Internet. And one of them is not to show anything that can reveal exactly who I am. A photo will be a dead give-away.

However, I sometimes imagine how my fellow jellies could look like. I have some drawings of some of the jellies here based on what I know about them. I’ll post it here someday.

I’ve seen a couple of jellies’ photos, and…it took away some of the magic. For me, it’s like watching the movie a beloved book has been made into. Most of the time, I am not happy with the actors cast for the roles, because they don’t confirm the picture I already had in my mind.

It’s the same with jellies. I see your faces, and suddenly, you are human – instead of being the special people with square, two-dimensional heads and pronounced opinions, you are just as boring ordinary as my neighbours.

I love seeing the pictures of people I interact with here. It puts a face to the names. I wish that more people would post their pics to the fluther photobucket.

<==Full disclosure here.

I’m not so brave as to put my photo anywhere on this site, but I’m friends with a bunch of Jellies on FB. If you want a description, I look just like an Aristocat.

I’m in the Photobucket, but my hair is different now. I still pretty much look the same otherwise.

<——- My picture sort of explains why my name fits.

Some people on here already know what I look like.

Those who worm their way into my inner circle usually end up seeing a picture. I’m not going to volunteer much to complete strangers though. Life has taught me better than that.

You don’t want to see what I look like. I’m ugly, bald headed and old. But I don’t care if you know what I look like. Here’s one of me on my canoe on 2–22-15.

flutherother's avatar

I’m in the Photobucket group.
