Help with new nose ring?

Asked by blueberry_kid (5957points) May 14th, 2015

I’ve had my nose pierced for a good two months now, and I’ve had a plastic ring in for two weeks because of volleyball.

Now that the season is over, I want to change the ring, but I lost my original one I pierced it with so i have to buy a new one.

I was wondering if it would be so terrible to change my nose ring from a 16 gauge to a 20 gauge? Would it shrink really badly?

Hey kid! Where ya been?

Don’t do nose rings, sorry. But it’s good to see you.

When you start using gauges, you’re talking about holes-for-life.

Haha, I know. I’m happy with this nose ring though, it makes me look tough.

no it doesn’t..

I’ve been begging the College Board to somehow accept my hair and an arm to pay for my college. That’ll only cover a year, so I’ll need to figure something out for the next few years. :)

But…but…but…what about when you’re really OLD, like 50 or 60 and you have this honkin’ hole in your nose!

I have two holes in my nose. I think they call them Nares

I suppose it’s a sure sign of decrepitude, my kid and I had this dispute some 20 years ago when she had the temerity to request a nose piercing and ring for her birthday. So I’ve been decrepit for at least 20 years, because now just as then, nose rings are for livestock.

Just remember, the smaller the hole, the greater the likelihood that it will eventually heal over when you tire of it (as you SURELY WILL EVENTUALLY).

So use the smaller gauge. A larger one doesn’t really add much, if any, significance over the original. Best to keep it as is.

I know that now you are convinced that you’ll never get rid of it, but when you’re an adult with a baby and she finds it so fascinating while nursing that she keeps tugging on it, it will quickly lose its allure.

I know that’s hard to imagine now, but once you’re a Mom, anything that distracts from your child’s bonding with you loses its Importance rapidly. Who wants to keep swatting their baby’s hand away from their face? Not exactly a nurturing gesture is it? And if the alternative is to remove the ring each time you feed your little one, it won’t be long before that becomes tiring and it just ends up sitting in the drawer permanently :)

guys it’s just a small regular piercing, not a giant hole in my nose like the crazies have. I’m not saying gauge wearers are crazy but…yeah I am.
