Do black appliances depress you?

Asked by Aster (20023points) May 23rd, 2015

I think some people buy a black refrigerator to “hide fingerprints” but to face something like that, especially on a cloudy day, would be too much for me. Do you like black appliances or even own a set of them ?

Glossy black items actually show more fingerprints and dirt. I don’t own them at present, but I have in the past. My mood is not set by the appearance of appliances.

They don’t depress me, but they aren’t my favorite. I had black appliances in my last house and they were kind if neutral I would say. Not impressive and not terrible.

Haha…I like black in the decorating scheme, black microwaves are good but not all appliances. They can look classy or dull and flat depending.
We have a stainless steel LG fridge & dishwasher here that show fingerprints too.

Our scullery maid is black & she only depresses me when she asks for a raise.

Coloma's avatar

@ucme Well..I hope she gets one, anyone that cleans up after and cares for others deserves a top wage.

^ She drives a mercedes…nuff sed.

@ucme. Your maid as an appliance?

ucme's avatar

@stanleybmanly If you mean, do I see her as an appliance, then gawd bless ya, no of course not.
Think of it as approaching something with a slice of levity & you’ve about got it.

What’s depressing about a black appliance? Nothing, unless it doesn’t work right. Then it’s a problem. LOL

As if a black fridge were not a downer at least, imagine one in a kitchen with the cabinets painted black. I just couldn’t face such a room.

I’m in the process of replacing the ones that came with my house. They’re visually depressing not really emotionally depressing.

Not at all. I enjoy the contrast my black Bunn coffee maker brings to my otherwise all white kitchen.

Hmm . . . maybe I will look around, see if I can find a black refrigerator locally. Again, the contrast it would bring to my kitchen would be delightful.

Lol…No. You may have a problem.

@Blackberry a problem you say? You mean I need to be in a psychiatric hospital for hating black kitchens? I hate black paneling too; guess they’ll add a few years to my incarceration.

My audio and TV equipment is black but my kitchen appliances are all white. Black would seem wrong for a refrigerator.

I have all black appliances. They don’t depress me. I find them pleasing to look at.

Misspegasister28's avatar

I find black to be more aesthetically pleasing than white, so no.

A former friend with benefits had an black appliance that seemed to make her very happy.

She kept it under her bed and called it Jamal.
