Why is the Canon EOS 760D(T6s) only sold as body in Europe?

Asked by xTheDreamer (897points) May 26th, 2015

Hi all,

I’m trying to get my hands on the new Canon EOS 760D or known as the T6s in the U.S, it was suppose to be released on the 20th of May in Europe. I’ve read on several articles that these will be sold as kit option and body only option but on the several websites that I’ve found this camera is only sold as body only.
Why don’t they have it as a kit option where it comes with the lens?

I’ve also checked out several electronic stores websites(MediaMarkt) and they don’t have this camera on the website to be bought. I’ve also went to the store itself and they don’t have it in stores either.
So why was it said that it’ll be released on May 20th but there’s still nothing?

I’ve even checked the European Amazon and Ebay and they don’t even have this camera for sale yet.

Thanks beforehand.

It maybe as simple as Canon is only shipping bodies to Europe. It is brand spanking new.

@Tropical_Willie Hmm but then why would the articles that I’ve read said that they would sell the kit option in Europe too?

They are at the start of the life cycle, people may have lenses already. They would only need the body, Canon is trying to sell cameras and at the beginning may sell more bodies then kits. So sell kits later. Or the lenses package is in limited supply.

The 760D has controls and features aimed at more experienced and more ambitious photographers and is therefore marketed at people who are probably upgrading from a previous canon and therefore already have lenses that are better than the kit lense.

@Tropical_Willie @Lightlyseared Thanks for your responses guys, now I would understand why they’re just selling the body :)
