Period problems?

Asked by FairyHansen (7points) June 4th, 2015

Hey everyone, I’m a 13 year old girl. I’ve had my period since I was 11, and I just wanted to know if shakiness and dizziness is normal during your period? I get very tired and lightheaded and I can also get shaky. My stomach also feels really empty and nauseous. And of course, some pain occurs. Are these symptoms normal? Thanks in advance! :)

No, they’re not. You should talk to your parents and have them make an appointment with a doctor for you.

Dizzinees? No Lightheadedness? No. Time to head to the doctor for a talk.

Best advice: ask your older sister(s), aunt, mother, or even better, your OB Gyn, the info is far better than a bunch of strangers at a keyboard or Smartphone.

Dizziness due to great loss of blood? You had better get yourself checked up. Do not leave it.

You could be suffering from low blood sugar and an empty stomach can make you nauseous. I would get checked out if I was you to make sure you don’t have low blood sugar or anemia. I was always borderline anemic as a kid and occasionally when my sugar would drop I would feel shaky and lightheaded, so when I would get my cycle I would also feel that way. So long as your cycle is normal, it probably doesn’t have much to do with that. Does the empty stomach and nausea and shakes go away when you eat carbs?
BTW, I am not a doctor. But I can relate to your symptoms. So do go get checked out. Even if carbs does work. You will want to make sure that you don’t have an insulin problem.

Yep that sounds like both hypoglycemia and anemia. A doc and a blood test can figure it out. Both are very manageable health conditions but ones that are important to monitor and be apprised of.

Side note: Your instincts are on the money. Don’t get in the habit of questioning what your gut instinct knows. We actually do have a brain in our gut and it has more cells and function then the one in our head.
