What would you do if you discovered a half naked woman crawling around on your spare bedroom floor, ripping at the carpet, and obviously high on something?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46811points) June 5th, 2015

This guy just put her out of the house. I think I would shut the bedroom door, go outside and call the police. I wouldn’t shove a drunk, topless woman outside, would you?

I would say, “Mom!?!?”

Homeowner was a female. Yes I’d put her out.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Until you go to drunk I was going to say take off my clothes and join her, but I don’t like drunk women.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, she had to physically put the woman out. I think that could turn potentially dangerous, which is why I say I’d remove myself from the situation and call the cops.

Berserker's avatar

Oh so you guys would all just boot me outta your house, huh? Well FINE. XD

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Symbeline Well it depends just how drunk you are. A little bit is interesting sometimes. :)

“This is the third such incident in three weeks in Austin.” said the police chief.

Seriously??

Three episodes of half naked drunk chicks breaking into houses and crawling around on the floor in less than a month?

Well…............ it is Austin.

I hope I never experience this but I think I’d shut the door and call the police. If I don’t know the person, they obviously need help but if they’re crawling around naked in a stranger’s house, they are obviously not in full possession of their faculties. I wouldn’t put her out on the street. It could be dangerous to try and could definitely be dangerous for her. She’s a vulnerable person in that state.

ragingloli's avatar

Finders keepers. I am sure she will be delicious.

fluthernutter's avatar

If she seemed harmless, I’d put her out.

If she seemed dangerous, I’d remove myself (and anyone else in the house) from the situation before calling the police.

If it were @Symbeline, I’d probably just throw some pillows at her and close the door until she got the crazies out of her system.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@Symbeline I’ll have a license plate sized sign run up with “Symbeline” in large letters spelled with rhinestones. It will come complete with a velvet rope for hanging around your neck. That way you can frolic on all of our floors and we can all write reviews and compare them here.

pillows would calm me down. Sooooft!

Wonder where how the hell she managed to sneak a spare bredroom into my flat.

I’d wonder why my ex was back in town.

I have told Cate Blanchett time and again but she keeps climbing my drain pipe trying to get into my bedroom through the window. I just chase her off with a broom.

Darth_Algar's avatar

“How you doin’?”

LuckyGuy's avatar

I’d dial 911 (US emergency number) as fast I could.
Then I’d grab a camera.

I absolutely would not touch her.

dappled_leaves's avatar

@LuckyGuy “Then I’d grab a camera.”

Really? That is something only a creepy predator would do. I can’t believe you would actually do that, and I’m surprised you think it’s a funny thing to joke about.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Oh come on, you can’t tell he’s joking?

ucme's avatar

I would tell the maid to stop sniffing the bleach.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

For those saying they’d put her out on the street or making jokes, what if she’s been drugged by some predatory male and somehow managed to get away and end up in your house? The scenario is not normal behaviour but the reasons for the woman being in such a state might not have been of her own making. I’m thinking about that poor woman who was drugged and then raped on a beach by multiple males in front of a whole group of people. Nobody did anything to help the woman. They filmed it on their phones and watched. My instinct would be to get her help while staying safe myself.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Earthbound_Misfit I was making jokes, but you put me in my place. Seriously, if I was confronted with this I’d try to figure out what happened. I’m big enough to take care of myself, so I’d try to help her.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

I have no doubt about that Mr A. You seem like a very kind hearted man.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I joke a lot to hide the big softie inside of me.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Oh shit, I just admitted to a big softie. Hides in mortal embarrassment. :)

fluthernutter's avatar

@Earthbound_Misfit Considering that I don’t exactly live in the hood (or in the middle of San Fernando Valley), removing her from my home could hardly be compared to passively watching someone get raped.

The police are much better equipped to deal with the situation. I think you are drawing a fine line between being kind-hearted and making poor decisions. It’s a volatile and unpredictable situation.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yeah, like we didn’t already have your number @Adirondackwannabe! Your secret is safe with us.

@fluthernutter Removing her from your house and leaving her out on the street, half naked, is comparable to not doing anything to help.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Oh sure, you’re keeping that secret.

dappled_leaves's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe So, I get castigated for calling out the non-hilarity of rape jokes, and @Earthbound_Misfit gets lurve for backing me up. That’s Fluther in a nutshell.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

People don’t get raped where you live @fluthernutter? No matter how safe a neighbourhood seems, bad things can happen. I didn’t say give her a cup of tea and make her feel at home. I said I’d close the door and call the police. However, a person who puts a vulnerable, naked woman who obviously isn’t capable of looking after herself on the street is contributing to anything that happens to that woman from that point on.

fluthernutter's avatar

@Dutchess_III I’d consider calling the police helping her.

I’d consider leaving a drugged and possibly psychotic individual in my home as unwise.

@Earthbound_Misfit I’d be more concerned about other people in my neighborhood who might encounter her before the police arrive. The likelihood of her getting raped before the police get there is practically nil.

@dappled_leaves @Earthbound_Misfit @Dutchess_III Have any of you spent much time with people strung out on drugs? I think people are underestimating the potential danger of the situation just because she is female.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

I would definitely call the cops, and see if she posed a threat then just wait for the cops to show up.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@fluthernutter I was speaking to the folks who said they’d just put her outside, like the homeowner in the story did. That’s not helping.
Calling the police is helping, and it’s helping keep her safe, too.

Also, as I said, I would go outside, possibly to a neighbor’s house, and call from there.

hug_of_war's avatar

I’d call the police and alert my apartment manager. No need to put myself at risk by getting physically involved.

ragingloli's avatar

Well, if she was black, I would not call the police.
They would shoot her on sight, without a doubt.

fluthernutter's avatar

@Dutchess_III The police responded to a 911 call. I’m thinking the homeowner was probably the one who called.

trailsillustrated's avatar

Happened to me but she wasn’t naked. Kicked her behind with my doc martins out the door and down the steps. She was looking for rock. This was many years ago.
